The request was met with indignation Sunday by opposition politicians and government watchdogs, but some Israelis signaled support and indicated it is time to move on. The president's office called the request "extraordinary," with "significant implications." At stake is the reputation of Israel's justice system as well as Netanyahu's hold on power. Netanyahu is the only sitting prime minister in Israel's history to stand trial. He is charged with fraud, breach of trust and accepting bribes in three separate cases accusing him of exchanging favors with wealthy political supporters including a telecom company, a Hollywood…...

The American pope was asked by a Turkish journalist about his private talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and whether they discussed the wars in Gaza and Ukraine. Leo confirmed they had, and said that Turkey had an "important role to play" in both conflicts, noting that Erdogan's government had already helped facilitate low-level negotiations between Russia and Ukraine to end the war. Man United comes back to beat Crystal Palace as Zirkzee stunner ends goal drought
3+ hour, 48+ min ago (300+ words) Joshua Zirkzee scored in the Premier League for the first time in almost a year to spark a comeback 2-1 win for Manchester United at Crystal Palace on Sunday. The Dutch forward hadn't scored in England's top flight since a double against Everton on Dec. 1 last year. But he ended his drought with a stunning strike in the 54th minute at Selhurst Park to level the game after Jean-Philippe Mateta put Palace ahead from the penalty spot in the first half. Mason Mount struck the winner nine minutes later as United ended Palace's 12-game unbeaten home run in the league. Zirkzee produced a moment of individual brilliance to fire United back into the game when collecting the ball in the box, spinning and scoring from a tight angle. It was only his eighth goal in all for United since joining from Bologna…...

7+ hour, 27+ min ago (883+ words) RALEIGH, N.C. " Bill Belichick stood at the microphone in a crowded room of reporters. North Carolina's season had just ended with a lopsided loss to a fierce nearby rival to cap a four-win season. And the six-time Super Bowl-winning head coach wasn't in much of a mood to talk about it. A little more than four minutes' worth, in fact. "Look, the season's just ended a few minutes ago, OK?" Belichick said after the 42-19 loss at N.C. State on Saturday night. "So now we're going to move into the offseason. That's what we're going to do." UNC started the year with buzz and a national spotlight, teeming with optimism " or maybe merely hope " that the NFL icon could elevate the program into something more as a first-time college coach. By season's end, Belichick had fielded a team that had more losses by…...

In a statement Sunday the prime minister's office said that Netanyahu had submitted a request for a pardon to the legal department of the Office of the…...

Man, we saw the bomb that he threw to [Darnell] Mooney [last week], which was a damn good play for those guys. "He's smart, he understands defense in totality, and he's going to be able to guide those young guys into what we're trying to do and to try to figure out how can they beat the coverages that we're in. We know he's going to watch every piece of film he can watch against us to see how…...
